During our consultation, we'll talk through locations, outfits, and what you want your portraits to say about you. I'll also share all of my best tips and tricks—from what to wear to how to prepare—so you'll know exactly what to expect and feel confident and excited when your session day arrives.

What should I wear?

Choosing what to wear can feel overwhelming, but don't worry—I've got you covered! During your Zoom consultation, we'll talk through outfit ideas, colors, layering, shoes, accessories, and how to create a variety of looks that reflect your personality.

I also provide a Senior Session Prep Guide filled with helpful tips, so you'll feel confident knowing exactly what photographs best. My goal is for you to arrive feeling prepared, comfortable, and excited for your session.

Absolutely! One of my favorite parts of planning your senior session is choosing locations that reflect your personality and style. Whether you're dreaming of wide-open fields, a downtown city vibe, a greenhouse, your family farm, or another meaningful location, we'll create a session that's uniquely you.

I also love discovering and offering exclusive rental locations, such as flower farms, private gardens, and other unique venues that aren't available to everyone. These one-of-a-kind locations can elevate your portraits and create a truly unforgettable experience.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to the best time for senior portraits, but a few key factors can help you decide. Think about your school's yearbook deadline, whether you prefer the look of summer greenery, fall colors, or a combination of both, and how busy your schedule is with sports, band, theater, or other activities.

Because my calendar fills several months in advance—especially during August, September, and October—it's always a good idea to book early, even if your session isn't for a few months.

Not sure which season is right for you? Here's a quick guide:

• Late spring & early summer (May–June): Lush greenery, longer evenings, and comfortable temperatures. Great for a fresh, vibrant look before summer activities get busy.

• Summer (July–August): Warm, golden sunsets and full green landscapes. Perfect if you want that classic Nebraska summer feel or need your portraits finished before school starts.

• Early fall (September–October): Cooler weather, rich golden tones, and some of the most beautiful light of the year. Ideal for cozy layers, jackets, and a more autumn-inspired style.

In a word... yes, I do! You're absolutely welcome to browse Pinterest, TikTok, Instagram, or anywhere else for inspiration. Seeing what styles, locations, outfits, or overall vibes you love can be incredibly helpful as we plan your session.

That said, there's no need to come prepared with a list of poses. My job is to guide you every step of the way. I'll coach you through natural movements, expressions, and poses that flatter you, so you'll never be left wondering what to do with your hands or how to stand.

We'll also make your session uniquely yours by incorporating your personality, interests, and style. The result is a gallery that feels authentic—not like you're recreating someone else's photos, but celebrating who you are.

Absolutely! Parents are always welcome to attend. They can help with outfit changes, carry belongings, cheer you on, and enjoy watching the experience unfold. I love getting parents involved while also making sure seniors have the space to relax, have fun, and let their personalities shine.

And here's a little secret… I always encourage parents to step in for a few photos, too! These images often become some of the most meaningful portraits from the session and are something you'll both treasure long after graduation.

Absolutely! Your senior session should tell your story. Whether it's your dog, horse, classic car, truck, sports equipment, musical instrument, letter jacket, dance shoes, or anything else that's an important part of your life, I encourage you to bring it along.

These personal touches help create images that are meaningful, unique, and truly represent who you are during your senior year.

If the Nebraska weather decides not to cooperate on the day of your session, no worries, we’ll simply reschedule. I always keep extra dates open each month for situations like this. Whether it’s extreme heat, rain, or gusty winds, your safety and comfort come first, and we’ll find the perfect day for your session.

Your ordering appointment is typically scheduled about 2–3 weeks after your session and takes place over Zoom. This is when you'll see your beautifully edited portraits for the very first time.

Together, we'll select your favorite images and design the perfect collection of artwork, prints, albums, digital images, or graduation cards. It's one of my favorite parts of the entire experience because you get to relive your session and see your portraits come to life.

Creating beautiful portraits is all about the details. Every image you choose receives careful, professional retouching to enhance its natural beauty while keeping you looking like you. Temporary blemishes, stray hairs, and other distractions are thoughtfully refined so the focus stays where it belongs—on you.
