I don't think I have ever met anyone that has said they don't have any goals. We all have goals. I mean, eating a tub of ice cream could be someone's goal for the day. :)
As much as eating a tub of ice cream sounds amazing, I probably wouldn't recommend it. But setting goals - I do recommend that! These can be small goals, medium size and a huge life changing goal.
Since I was a teenager, I always wanted to live in New York City. I had never visited, but my career path which at that time was professional theatre pretty much set that goal for me. When I was 21, I did visit the city and I knew I had to live there one day - the goal was set! At 25, I met that goal after living in Milwaukee, WI for 4 years. I can still remember the night I decided that it was time. I was sitting in a stage managers booth while working on a play and the thought "I am ready" entered my head - 6 months later I was living in Brooklyn, New York.
Now that was one of my huge life changing goals. I have had many small goals and medium sized ones too - heck somedays a goal of mine is to get out of bed! Don't pressure yourself on what your goals are or think you have to have major life changing goals. Write down your goals and put them somewhere visible to you - this way you can check them off as you meet them!
- Goals increase productivity. Setting goals can make people more
productive, increase confidence, and produce better results. - Goal setting creates mental clarity and feels more organized
- What makes a goal achievable: use the SMART acronym:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMART_criteria - Goal setting can show you how much you’ve achieved if you keep track
of ones that you meet! - Goal setting can be a skill that you pass down to children or people who
look up to you. - Practice makes perfect: The more you practice making attainable goals
and meeting them, the more you will want to continue.
