This girl. The first day we met she was in front of my camera and I knew we were going to have a great time through the year!
Let me back up. Maddy is a Lincoln East senior and currently one of my 2019 senior models. She and her mom signed Maddy up to be a model with only seeing my work and getting all the details through email. Last winter/spring Maddy was also an ambassador for Black Swan Dress Boutique which is how she heard about me and my program. Joe at Black Swan had me photograph his ambassadors in the new Prom dresses for the season - and that is when Maddy and I first met!
When Maddy and her mom came in for her senior pre shoot consultation Maddy had exactly what she wanted as far as clothing and locations for her shoot. All she talked about was a beach look - I know what you are thinking...beach in Nebraska? Well, we can fake it a little with the sand bars at lakes. We had it all planned out - Maddy had all of her outfits planned and perfected. The day of her shoot the unpredictable Nebraska weather gave us rain. Due to my booked schedule and Maddy's family vacation we couldn't reschedule until a month later which gave Maddy time to revise what she wanted for her shoot. As you can see in the photos below, we didn't end up going to a lake.
Maddy loved the look of a vintage store in Lincoln, Nebraska called Home & Closet. The staff at the store were welcoming and let us shoot part of her senior pics in their awesome little store. It was one of my favorite new places to shoot this year and Maddy picked the perfect corduroy jumper for the decor.
Maddy had told me she also wanted a solid color wall that was in an urban setting. I just happened to see that gray wall as I drove to Home and Closet that day which worked perfect for her second outfit - white top and pink pants. Prior to her session, I had told her to check out a certain area in Lincoln that I felt she would like from what she was describing to me and she did! The ivy wall was absolutely stunning behind her for her third and final outfit. It didn't overpower her and let her stand out which is what all portraits should be about - the person being photographed. The blue door below...that was just a happy accident that we came upon!
Professional makeup artist, Ashley Gaa met Maddy at her home in South Lincoln prior to her session to get her camera ready for the day. Ashley was then on location with us the entire shoot to keep Maddy's makeup and hair looking fresh.
Miss Maddy - you are a dream to photograph and I cannot wait to see where the future takes you!
