When I first book a session for my senior, we chat about a few key things that will help me plan the best custom session for that senior.
The main thing I want my senior to think about is how busy they are during a certain season. I know that fall can be a popular time because of the colors. In Nebraska, fall can be tricky. Sometimes we really only see the colors for about a week and then the leaves are on the ground - which can be cool too. Just be prepared for that. If you are involved in a lot of activities at the start of your school year, this can be hard on preparing and booking a date for your session. Its not impossible, but you definitely need to start planning ahead so you don't run out of session dates that fit your schedule. Think about your schedule and what best fits your lifestyle.
Another factor is what are your favorite clothes to wear? Do you love shorts and short sleeve or do you loathe wearing them? Even though during a summer session, I do encourage bringing an outfit that is more fall looking for variety, you will mostly be wearing summer outfits. If you hate summer outfits, then think about shooting in spring. It is still cool enough to wear jeans comfortably. I had a senior last year that absolutely HATES to be hot. So we booked her session in late September. Of course, that particular day was warmer than usual, but she was able to wear the clothing she wanted without being hot and miserable. No one wants to look uncomfortable in their senior pics.
Location, location, location. This is another topic we will go over during your pre shoot consultation. If you do not know exactly where you want your session to take place, that is totally ok. If you know how you want your images to feel and look like this will help me figure out and scout locations. If you love to pin on Pinterest, start pinning poses, locations and clothing. When I scroll your board with you, I can always see a theme that you gravitate towards.
As a senior client you will receive a prep guide in addition to that pre shoot consultation. If you have questions or are ready to book a session, click the button below to get in contact!
