September and October have brought new opportunities for me and that camera of mine.
Within weeks of each other, I was contacted and hired to photograph two events that had nothing to do with high school senior photography or any other kind of photography sessions that I am usually doing. The first was photographing Paw Patrol Live at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska a few weeks ago. I have to say, it was pretty fun to be back behind the scenes in the theatre world...even if it was in a different capacity than I am familiar with.
My main goal was to photograph the children and their parents enjoying their time at Paw Patrol Live! Though I felt a little like the paparazzi, I caught myself smiling as I photographed all these little humans as their excited grew and exploded from the moment they walked in the arena doors to seeing all the pups on stage.
Another part of my job was to photograph the VIP room before and after the performances as they were interviewed about their favorite characters and moments of the show. Adorable. That is the word that comes to my mind as I think back.
Seeing the innocence and the wonder in these little bitty people was a breath of fresh air from all that we hear, read, and see today. It reminded me why the arts are so important. We need it. From 2 years old to 200 years old - we need it all.
