I think there are many people who think; how hard is it to take senior pics? You bring a camera and take a couple photos, right? Wrong. There is a lot of planning, scouting and styling that goes into just one senior session. And that is before we even get to the actual session day.
Communication is key and with high school senior sessions there is A LOT of communication that you just might get sick of me! Here are a few tips to get you started prior to booking a senior photographer:
- START PLANNING OUTFITS AS SOON AS YOU BOOK - this means to start looking on Pinterest and in your own closet. Pull clothing pieces and hang on the door as optional outfits. I will help you with outfit choices and will even collaborate with you on Pinterest boards to see what you are drawn too. I have a lot of boards for inspiration on my Pinterest - Check it out HERE!
- PRE SHOOT CONSULTATION : A few weeks prior to your session, we will get together either in person at my studio or over a zoom call. This is the time to brainstorm ideas as far as locations, what you see for your photos and I will also offer detailed tips and tricks so you know you are 100% ready for your session. I told you, you might get sick of me. :)
- BRING SNACKS & WATER TO YOUR SESSION - Most of my seniors choose a 2 or 3 hour session and nobody wants a hangry teenager!
- MAKEUP ARTIST FOR THE WIN - Adding on a makeup artist for senior girl sessions is recommended by me, but it is totally you and your parents decision. Why a makeup artist? Even if you rarely wear makeup, she can even out your skin and give you a fresh glow without making you look like you have a lot of makeup on. Also, she knows the colors to use to bring out one of your best features...your eyes. Honestly, most parents and seniors decide to use a makeup artist for one reason; you do not have to worry about it. All you have to do is bring your clothing, props and snacks to the studio and then get pampered for about 1 hour prior to your photoshoot!
- DIGITAL FILES: Yep that is right. You will get all of your proofs in a digital form with a print release!
